New coven advertising system, New Lottery, Competition results & Last day of Valentines Day specials!

Good evening all.

I had a feature that was suggested to me a couple weeks back, it is a way for covens to get more players attention through some sort of coven advertising system. Basically any coven member of a coven can top up the coven advertising balance with real $ or game money. The coven owner can control the ad bid and the description. It uses a cost per click bidding system, where the higher you bid the more views and volume of clicks you get. Not to worry, once a player has clicked on your ad, you will not be debited another click for that same player again.
There is a new heading on the coven page called "Coven Promotion", there is the link to the coven advertising system and the old invite vampire link.  These ads are placed on the coven page when you're not in a coven, the coven hall page and the bottom of the dead city for maximum exposure. This idea could flop, or be successful, so I'm putting it on a trial run.

Onto the next thing... a new lottery! The old has been there since day one, and I remember back in College my good friend Rob who coded it up for me. Of course now it's a bit outdated and the prizes are pretty low. I've decided to drop the tier prize structure and just have one bigger winner once a week. Tickets cost $2000 each and you can buy as many as you want (more tickets = higher chance to win). The jackpot is 75% of all the ticket sales. Every Sunday night reset the lottery will run and there is a 25% chance of nobody winning, which means the jackpot will rollover to the next week (how exciting). If that doesn't happen and a winner must be chosen, then 1 random person will be selected to win the jackpot. For this first week of the lottery draw (which is this Sunday) I am giving the winner  5 plasma extra! So get over there and start buying up some tickets. (If it rollsover the winner next week will get the 5 plasma)

The winner of the extended January competition is  Jodas (60366). The next competition will be open in March. Thank you to all that entered.

Tomorrow is the last day for the valentines special, so to get some cheap plasma and show some love, do it asap! (Also the gift winners competition will end tomorrow too)

Also remember the Wallie Card UK special runs until Sunday too.

I'd like feedback on this weeks new features, either on this blog or on the forum, thanks!

Thanks & enjoy!
Ash

but yes the lottery at 2000 a ticket i think the new player will find it hard,,as for the old one seemed to be more fair,,

the NEW lottery^

1 random player being chosen seems sketchy... why not just keep drawing until there is a winner?

Because rollovers = excitement.

Next competion in March?! Whoooohoooo! That's my b-day month!!!! I'm definately going to try to participate in that one! xD

What if we already have a lottery ticket? Can we still keep that one or do we have to buy a new one?

Thanks Ash!!! xD

it makes it much tougher to finish the lottery acheivement.... :(

The new lottery does not seem very fair. Only one winner maybe. It sounds more like a raffle. With the old system at lease I won some times. I like most of ideas ash, but this one sucks.

Personally to pay 1.5 mil for 50 clicks or $5 for 50 clicks is not very fair to either younger covens AND to those maybe who do not have money. That is the equation. $1.5 mil equals a $5 credit and each click is $0.10. 50 clicks can go rapidly just for newbies under 2 weeks old not in a coven, let alone trying to include all non coven players or to ALL players. The system as a whole is not fair to poorer or younger covens without the collateral to pay for it. This leaves it only to the rich covens to be able to afford this who already do not need the advertising. Yes, I can afford it but at the moment I rather be spending on the revamped increased cost equipment, which near nullified the old weapons system instead of adding to the existing weapons system. Many of us coven owners had vast weapons inventory collected over time and it wiped and minimized the value worth of our old weapons. Just my opinion.

what about the turns the people spent on the old system for lottery? the new system sounds nice but even if its only a 100 turns, these are hours that we sacrificed for the ability to participate. there should be a small kick back for the people that did that. in all sense of fairness, when the new weapon system was released there was a kickback on some of the old weapons. this should be the same for the turns spent on the old lottery system.

Seems like the game is starting to only favour the richer players... Can't say I'm a fan of the lottery idea in particular, I agree with comments made before, it was fairer the old way.

I agree with the idea of a coven ad's the older richer coven started out small and worthless to and they built themselves up to be large. I do agree somewhat with the idea of the lottery but not with the idea of a single winner. May I suggest possibly creating multiple winning ranges. Somewhat like if I by a 200 dollar ticket its a smaller prize but if I buy the 2000 dollar ticket its a lager prize. Then up the % chance that the pot rolls over on the higher ones and one the lower ones lower the %? Just an idea that way the newer vamps can afford to get in on the action and us older vamps can gamble on a high stakes win. If so make the high stakes win somewhere in the percentage of like 50% chance of rollover (hehe yes I am wicked) but thanks ash for trying to revamp the system and for putting your time and effort into this game. And for all you peeps out there that state that Ash is just in it for them money remember that if the company Ash started didn't make him any money then why would he keep it around? So shut your mouths and thank him for allowing you to play for free or for as cheap as you choose to play the game!!!!!

Can't comment on the new advertising system as I am not a coven owner.

I really don't care for the new lottery system. If the prizes in older lottery system were outdated then update them to be more relevant. Those of us who have already spent money to be in the lottery system will lose it. How fair is that?

I usually like the upgrades, and rarely leave a comment if I don't, but the lottery upgrade has me a bit frustrated. I understand that updating things to is always necesary in today's age, but there should be some compensation for those of us who spent turns on the lottery. I don't mind that you have to buy per ticket, the up side is that those who win will win big, but is there any way of reimbursing current lottery "members"?

i like upgrades i think it would be kind of wierd if people got married and had kids though.

coolio. hope this trial is triumph. i'd lke to participate in the lotto. being a newbie and kinda between covens, the coven ad idea is helpful [i noticed it before i read this blog],

I think you need to re-look at the contest winner again seems to me that the only person that submitted after the end of orginal contest date won! And maybe it wasn't your taste but I think there was a lot better looking ones than the one you chose, But again it's your profile so be it. Oh and BTW there was also mention of 2nd and 3rd place finishers as well I didn't see them listed.

I'm loving the new Updates! But the new Lotto System is a tad confusing and since I don't have enough money to buy a ticket yet...Oh, well.

Keep uo the good work, Ash!

I looked more at the Coven Ad system. It is randomized viewing and not even a list of all those advertising at once. So the ad system relies on a "lottery" draw of your coven ad appearing. Stormhaven came up 5 times, Fallen Kingdom 2 times. Deadly Knights came up once. Again, not a fan of the coven ad update version idea

There are number of online lotteries but my hot favorite is mega millions. I know winning a lottery is not guaranteed and is a matter of luck, but the chances of within with this lottery are comparatively better.
