The New Spring Valley v2!

The long awaited Spring Valley upgrade is now in working motion. For the past while each player got 5 free hunts a day. They could use these hunts to hunt humans in the town 'Spring Valley' just off our borders. NOW as the human civilization is growing I thought i should take off the 5 cap and let you hunt humans more freely, and that's exactly what i have done.

The new features of Spring Valley:

- New house images
- STAMINA is used for hunts.
- 1 hunt uses 1 stamina (whether it's a successful hunt or not)
- You get 1 stamina every 2minutes as long as you're ALIVE and located in SPRING VALLEY.
- There is a 300 cap for stamina.
- Hunting SKILL added (stats on home page).
- Your hunting SKILL increases every time you have a successful hunt.
- The higher your skill your chance of draining BONUS blood increases.
- A ranks page to show the top hunters.

As well as the 4 rank 1 quests that has been added (quite long winded ones too) which links with the new Spring Valley. (Harlot the hunter I, II, III & IV).

I'm hoping this feature will reward active players and give you something else to do waiting for the hourly reset.

This feature is in BETA so changes COULD happen over the next couple weeks depends on how it runs and the feedback received.

Feedback/comments etc can be posted here

Enjoy :)

Ash

Edit: I have updated the start hunt skill at 1. So if you had less than 1, you'd now have 1. & there was a typo saying you got 0.01 but you get 0.1 (it was adding correctly just wasn't displaying correctly)

I love the new spring valley Ash, but I used for like 10 minutes and had to get ready for work and now all I get is this when I try to go to spring valley. Anyone know why???

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/dacpanel/public_html/springvalley.php on line 457

Nice upgrade, but for gamers who are not VIP after the initial newness wears off they will probably ignore the quests as the cost in terms of money and/or turns will become prohibitive.

Anonymous said...

Let me amend the above as saying the cost of healing yourself will become prohibitive.

DarkAsh said...

That will be addressed... Well, helped, in another feature being planned.

*bows to Ash* This is awesome ... and I cannot wait to go and test this stamina and skill. Though I don't know that I received the 5 extra goes this week. :( No big deal for me Ash.

And for those who are not VIP, I can only say that perhaps you ought to consider getting it? One thing Ash does is try to be fair to all the players. And $5 ... even for the 30 days, is not much to pay in order to have the chance to fully experience the game. Why must there always be these complaints about improvements?

No complaint here Ash ... just happiness and appreciation for all that you do! :D

Love the change to spring valley. Now it gives us more reason to actually go there. Great change Ash.

It's awesome :-)
Thanks a lot!

Yay to Ash! Great job mate! This will keep me occupied!

There was no complaint about the upgrade, in fact is I said it was great. It was an honest observation. As for the monetary issue let's not even go there. We all play however best we can.

Ash I'm glad you replied, and I look forward to the planned upgrade.

Hey a couple of Plasma quests might help, but then I bet that is what Ash is thinking about in "helping."

The improvement gives a reason to go to spring vally and hunt though i have one complaint, i keep getting killed like repeatedly by the human with the garlic launcher, and was wondering am i just un-lucky or is that supposed to happen so often?

Statisticly speaking under the old Spring Valley that would have happened to you 40% to 60% of the time so if those statistics remain in place, then the answer is yes you will be killed more then you will win. If you want to throw luck into it then consider yourself lucky to get more then two humans per visit. ;)

DarkAsh said...

It's random whether you get killed or not. Read the italic text just before you hunt (after you clicked on the house) :)

Anonymous said...

I have Ash and my statistic of a 40-60% chance of being killed holds up 85% of the time. :P

Oupicus said...

This is a great idea and I have been taking advantage of it as much as I can... I like the loss of the pull down tab as well makes it more convenient just to click which one you choose ty for the great job ASH... cheers to you

DarkAsh said...

Then you just have bad luck :P & thanks Oupicus

I wanted to thank you for the button menu too. You can't imagine how much easier it makes it for me with only limited used of my one arm. If you get the chance and find other places where you could make the change, I certainly would appreciage it.

I am trying it now. It is awesome and passes time quickly.

Thanks Ash

I am going to make a lot of the game more accessible, Derek. But of course some pages it's simply not possible. Thanks for the feedback so far.

Yay for new stuff! :D Thanks Ash! I rarely even bothered with Spring Valley (after completeing the quest) so I am glad to see a new reason to venture over there!

And the quicklinks are very helpful! :)

I like the new hunting skill/spring valley. Nice

If there going to chance the way from 5 a day to 1 a min. then you should change the way that it doesnt kill you instantly like every time you fail it should only take like 1/4 of your life away or 100 damg for every missed kill it shouldnt be death right away.. i dont think thats fair for the non vips that half to spend like 300 for every time they spot me for sneaking in..

thats another thing they should change the way it works sneaking in shouldnt give you blood but gives you a hunters mark and walking in should give you a higher hunters mark and more blood and so on. it should be .1 for each entry

hannah said...

this sounds great to hear send a message

Anonymous said...

i agree that sneaking, walking, and rushing shouldn't have equal returns with the hunt skill however considering how much whining some non VIPs like to do about the VIP benefits all I'm gonna say to that one is tough. If you wanna run with the big dogs then get off the porch

i farted again

Glad to see i'm not the only 1 bitching about vip and plasma junkies:-P.well i still love this game so i'm still gna stick around ,difference is that i will not be voting so you can kiss that income goodbye.i will no longer train 1 turn at a time so i'll save a FORTUNE on data cost so now its a win win situation:-).

DarkAsh said...

lol @ last post, doesn't quite work like that.

Anonymous said...

Laugh all you want ash, look at it from my point of view.no matter how many times i vote i'll still get killed by newb
Vip plasma junkies.this way i still get to play a gr8 game without the aggravation of having to vote and wait 5 seconds.whether i train 1 turn or 10 at a time i'll still get killed by the afor mentioned.by training 1 turn at a time i optimised my chances of getting x2(the best i could get for being non vip)but it doesn't help against your vip so i won't be doing that anymore.admit it or not your ad retinue will go down a wee bit;-)

Short comment, off topic.
The site with the timer doesn't accept the simplest of responses. For me at least, It's not worked once.

Jeez... Do I have to stick my oar in again?
Some of us work bloody hard IRL to afford VIP, Some of us support Ash to develop the game. Some of you are bloody ungrateful that Ash lets you play out of the kindness of his heart. Stop Whining.

Anonymous said...

Yes if you like you may stick your oar in your ass again jk:-P.no one is whining, just telling it like it is.i can afford to buy vip easy but the situation doesn't allow it.tough cookies i deal with it my way.

Anonymous said...

Nice try... but spring valley is still pointless

Anonymous said...

Its not its just another way to increase the differences between vip and us lowly mortals.just watch at some stage the stamina will affect pvp battles

DarkAsh said...

Yes of course, Spring Valley is completely useless. And it will have VERY minimal effect on PVP because its still MUCH more beneficial to fight other vampires than hunt in Spring Valley.

Anonymous said...

Ah pluck it, maybe i should just quit

Ash, just wanted to say that the new spring valley looks great and i love it. Nice to have somethingelse to do when waiting on turns and not in chat. Also, thank you for the extra turns. Noticed that you raised them once again. You are always making the game better and better. Thanks again for all that you do for us.

hugs and kisses love Thanks!:)

Between healing from getting killed by humans & healing every 15 minutes from being attacked, the QP reward just doesn't seem to be worth the hassle. I have to wonder if there isn't a way that if we are in SV that we can be exempt from being killed in battle. Ash? That's 4 times an hour just from being killed in battle not to mention the healing from every house I enter & get killed in. I have to say, SV looks great, however, I will NOT be spending time there unless it becomes more conducive to the game as a whole. I can see why non-VIP are having such a problem with this. The cost to transport & the cost to heal is ridiculous. I appreciate all the hard work & effort you have put forth in making SV look nice, but looking nice doesn't make it a worth while experience.

Anonymous said...

Thats what i said, you just said it better @ above

Lucy Von Richer said...

I haven't tried it out yet but thank you for the extra bonus--DarkAsh XD ^^

Anonymous said...

New SV is interesting at best. it's a good way to kill time. but when i sneak in 7 times in a row and get peppered with a measly garlic launcher each time, well, it makes me want to drown kittens. nearly 300 total hunts and i still haven't managed to get a skill of over 20. again, makes me feel like punching a baby. if your skill reflected a bonus to your chance of success that would also be awesome. think of the kittens ash! XD

Anonymous said...

I'm curious in what way SV is a reward. There are QP to be had for sure and some blood but *shrug*, I don't see the point?

Anonymous said...

Hey goddes bluemoon, can you please get off the greek freak stuff already, some variety would be nice

Anonymous said...

I love the new Spring Valley, but it seems like some people are determined to keep other people from getting stamina. For example, there's a Rank 111 who's just attacking everyone who either used to be higher than her or is higher than her. Could there be some sort of cap for killing someone so many times in a row?

Anonymous said...

yeah. you mean like once every 15 minutes? ^5. cap in place.

Anonymous said...

It sucks. Completely. The random point reward is horrid and makes it next too impossible to get anything consistent going. Each time I get to a level 2 hunt skill I lose it all when I hit a stretch of being beaten by humans. its a bad idea that needs to be removed.

I have battled hard to get to the 160's because of the constant attacks of being in the top hunters. The other hard part is when you have more deaths then you have kills. It makes it frustrating to put it mildly. This is supposed to be a low rank quest, but it is almost getting to the point of not doing it ever. I like the idea, but it is getting more frustrating each time I decide to go and do it now.

While I think spring valley is a good idea it is getting to the point of frustration these days. I have had 24 deaths and 35 kills in the same span of time. I am ok with making this a bit hard to get to 350 hunter skill, but that is making it more then frustrating now. When it takes almost 200 stam to go up 3 skill points because of deaths and empty houses it makes the quest extremely tedious and boring.
