Good evening.
I've had a lot of people say to me (during the problems last couple days)... "Just put the old server back, it was working so much better".
There is a reason why RoB has to run 3 apache servers now... before the apache server (even though it seemed fine) was running with 90% RAM and 95% CPU being used. A 5% increase of more players on at the same time would make the server lock up and laaaaaaaaaaaag. This is why we needed new servers.
ReignOfBlood is now powered by this big ass SQL server, and 3 apache servers (one acting as a load balancer). It needed a lot of configuration blah blah to get working correctly. And now I think it's pretty much stable and there shouldnt be any more problems now *touches wood*.
I would like to take the opportunity to apologise for the ups and downs, but these things happen. It frustrates me more than anyone when things are not stable, and I'm happy that they are now.
Lets hope it continues and we can alll enjoy see the site grow.
It's coming to the end of the financial year and i've got a lovely pile of paper work to sort through. Anyone fancy being my secretary?

It's like all computer technology. One must be forward thinking to continue to grow. When changes occur, bound to have instability and bugs. Nature of the computer tech beast. However, through work-arounds and diligence, these things eventually get solved. I'll play secretary for cash! However, skirt may be in question. No worries in other words, as it is simply part of growing pains. Growing means going forward!

It's all good in the long run. Fast and sturdy RoB in exchange for a bit of downtime. No big.

Just a BTW... I think the down occurred after reset and well before the next, no-one lost any VIP days.

Always best to have more than not enough.
Not enough causes problems like lagging and viruses to have easier access because there will not be enough memory in the computer's memory banks to support firewalls and what have you.

Thank as always Ash. You are doing a great job. You could be lazy and not give a crap and then where would we be. Tech. is always growing as well as this game, and in order to keep up we must look forward to ups and downs that come with expansion and improvements...those who complain, either don't understand, or they have nothing better to do with their time than to do so. ;)
