New weapon ranking system
Good evening,
An idea was brought forward a while ago about an equipment ranking system. I've had it written on my to-do so I thought I'd give it a go. It's nothing major, it just gives those who actively battle a bit more of a free stat boost from your skill using a particular weapon or armour.
The basics
- Battling other vampires gives your equipment exp. 1 exp for attacking a rank lower than you, 2 exp for attacking the same rank as you, and 3 exp for attacking a higher ranked vampire.
- Every time you level the equipment up it gives + 1 damage or + 1 defence boost. (Depending on if the weapon levels or the armour)
- Weapon and armour have different exp bars, although they will be identical if you keep the same equipment equipped as you get the same exp for both.
- There is a maximum cap of level 50 for each equipment.
The negative effect
- Each piece of equipment is unique, I.E no two sticks are the same. The damage or defence boost from a particular equipment stays active as long as the equipment is in your possession. You sell or give away your equipment your bond with that equipment will be lost and the the equipment will be reset back to 1. This is because this is designed to give you an extra stat boost for actively using the equipment, not for adding extra sell value to it.
If this is well received, there are many ways to expand this in the future.
You will also see a slight layout update to the equipment page too.
Hope you like. Please report any bugs.
Ash

It's definitely an interesting addition. I look forward to giving it a workout.
hey man thats bad ass. nice one ash. nice improvment!
Sounds good
I have been wondering if we would see something like this. I think you implemented it in the best way possible. Good job Ash. ;)
Sounds very interesting.
Ooooo, I like this. : )
Does this count if attacked?
well those of us who are already higher ranked just got screwed, but meh, thats the name of progress.
Well done Ash! As always, you've put into place something which benefits us all ... and which goes away when sold. Nice~ :)
I love the idea. :D
"Battling other vampires gives you exp for your equipped weapon. 1 exp for attacking a rank lower than you, 2 exp for attacking the same rank as you, and 3 exp for attacking a higher ranked vampire."
I also think this is a really nice update but I have a few questions regarding this.
What will exp for the weapon do? Will it accumulate to a certain amount to give additional damage? If it does accumulate to give additional damage, how much to give +1?
And is there no exp for the armour?
Wait, does the weapon have a separate exp bar then? Or does it just level up when you do, giving you bonus exp to help you?
"gives YOU exp for your equipped weapon"
"Every time YOU level up it gives"
But it levels with you as well? Seems to me like someone could just SV their weapon to max if that's the case...
hmmm...was looking at the equipment page, there is a level bar that say's 1~0/500.
So I am assuming when the level bar is full you get an additional bonus damage or defense?
Re-worded it a bit. Poy above is correct.
Ah, excellent. :) That's what I was thinking, otherwise it wouldn't make sense to level up with the character. :) Thanks Ash, great work. :D
I think that level bar in the equipment page is the exp bar for the equipments.
But I still can't figure out what gives exp for the armour...since Ash said battling gives exp to the weapon only.
So does this go for ALL equipment, the old style with no % as well as the new?
Read closer Poy.
Oh, ok Ash...sorry i posted before I read your response.
Thanks...love this update :)
are we EVER going to see player rank on the strongest vamps list??? :( This makes the need even greater...
I will enjoy watching how this works in the upcoming weeks. From your description, it seems to be a very well thought out and planned process and will do very well. The only issue I see in the future will be "re-ranking" the equipment. Like if you have a piece loaned to you from the coven you are in and then you get you own piece (whether it be the same or better) and you return the loaned out one. You'll have to start all over again. So far, that's the only downside I see with this new system. I'm eager to see how everything pans out.
Excellent......
Kewl, it is like a proficiency bonus... I like it
Eden brings up a good point. Maybe a second layer of ranking, that's much slower, but is your actual proficiency with that grade of weapon/armor? I.E. alongside your battle-hardened Sword of Avalon that's rank 24, you could have a proficiency of 12, or 6, with a Sword of Avalon/200 series weapon. That way you don't have to completely restart, and the weapon resale isn't changed, plus it will add some more depth and strategic choices.
Not saying I'm not happy with the new system, I do love it. :) Just adding another idea, based on Eden's point.
I am very interested in seeing how this works... sounds really neat:)
kinda sounds good for younger not older players
...sigh
Shouldn't have an impact at all. 100 turns = +1-4 stat points. 100 turns = 100-300 exp, not even enough to gain +1boost. Anybody altering their game play due to the result of this addition fails.
I'm liking the idea of ranking our equipment. Nice idea Ash.
nice!
Good I like that, kind of equipment there Ash lol.
Yet another useless update and "fix". Why not fix the bugs that are already present
Awesome idea. Gives a bit more incentive for people to actually attack.
I would like to see this go to any fight...because I am defending I am not learning my weapon or armor better? Should be for attacking and defending but I like the addition.
Sounds Great. Nice idea Ash.:)
Sounds good though i don't like the sound of if you get a new set you loose the boost you have gained. After all the player has gained it and not the equipment it's self, if the equipment had gain the exp then that suggests to me that player has not battled and chosen the battle's they have fought but the equipment has it's self.
Just a point of view, but the basic idea sounds sounds thanks.
should DEFINITELY count for defending as well...
Excellent, works' for me...
